Going to Bali this August 2013

I am planning a trip to Bali by train or bus. I will start the trip from Jakarta. I still don't know what should I do in Bali. But probably I will find out about Ubud War there.

About surfing, I really want to try it. but I haven't done and don't know how much the cost. If I want to try it, can I ask someone there to teach me? Could you give me a recomendation and info about cost or how much I should pay?
