You might be talking about "permaculture" , but I don't think they are as "Hippy" as you think

that might be it..the places that im talking about r these self sustaining towns formed from the hippies who kept to the belifes about the goverment and start a type of commune there everywhere america and europe..any info on those\\

Saw some in Hawaii, and of course the gypsies all over Europe.
I remember looking up a few online but can't remember the places now, there are several in the States - check out the Indie
film "Off the grid" if you get a chance.
