Below are my favorite travel quotes; I hope they will inspire and motivate you to get lost in wanderlust.

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” – Saint Augustine

“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving” – Lao Tzu

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust

“Travelers, there is no path, paths are made by walking” – Antonio Machado

“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” – Rosalia de Castro

“There is a third dimension to traveling, the longing for what is beyond.” – Jan Myrdal

“Tourists don’t know where they’ve been, travelers don’t know where they’re going.” – Paul Theroux

“I have wandered all my life, and I have also traveled; the difference between the two being this, that we wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment” – Hilaire Belloc

“Travelers never think that they are the foreigners.” – Mason Cooley

“The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.” – G. K. Chesterton

“There are no foreign lands.  It is the traveler only who is foreign.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

“Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection.” – Lawrence Durrell

“The fool wanders, a wise man travels.” – Thomas Fuller

“A good traveler is one who does not know where he is going to, and a perfect traveler does not know where he came from.” – Lyn Yutang

“When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money.” – Susan Heller

“Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness.” – Ray Bradbury

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” – Martin Buber

“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.” – Oscar Wilde

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

“Like all great travelers, I have seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.” – Benjamin Disraeli

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard

“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things - air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky - all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” – Cesare Pavese

“A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it.” – John Steinbeck

“May all your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you.” – Edward Abbey

“We travel as seekers after answers we cannot find at home, and soon find that a change of climate is easier than a change of heart.” – Phil Cousineau

“If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears.” – Glenn Clark

“May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

“Of the gladdest moments in human life, me thinks, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off with one mighty effort the fetters of Habit, the leaden weight of Routine, the cloak of many Cares and the slavery of Home, one feels more happy. The blood flows with the fast circulation of childhood. A journey, in fact, appeals to Imagination, to Memory, to Hope - the three sister graces of our moral being.” –  Sir Richard Francis Burton

“When you come to the edge of all the light you know, and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly.” – Barbara J. Winter

“Travel is liberty, perfect liberty, to think, feel, do just as one pleases.” – William Hazlitt

“A ship in harbor is safe – but that is not what ships are built for.” – John A. Shedd

“When you travel, you experience, in a very practical way, the act of rebirth. You confront completely new situations, the day passes more slowly, and on most journeys you don’t even understand the language the people speak. So you are like a child just out of the womb. You begin to attach much more importance to the things around you because your survival depends upon them. You begin to be more accessible to others because they may be able to help you in different situations. At the same time, since all things are new, you see only the beauty in them, and you feel happy to be alive.” – Paul Coehlo

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” – Helen Keller

“Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson

Great. I love quotes. They are very motivative!
Ok, my travel motivation is the movie Into the Wild, heres two quotes from the movie

"I read somewhere... how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong... but to feel strong."

"There is a pleasure in the pathless woods; / There is a rapture on the lonely shore; / There is society, where none intrudes, / By the deep sea, and music in its roar; / I love not man the less, but Nature more... /" - Lord Byron

This is from The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles:

He did not think of himself as a tourist; he was a traveler. The difference is partly one of time, he would explain. Whereas the tourist generally hurries back home at the end of a few weeks or months, the traveler, belonging no more to one place than to the next, moves slowly, over periods of years, from one part of the earth to another. Indeed, he would have found it difficult to tell, among the many places he had lived, precisely where it was he had felt most at home.

The above quotes are really so much motivational and inspirational for me and other travelers to just keep moving on and enjoy the journey experience. The travel always gives us opportunities to seek new places and meet new people with new culture and tradition. The landscapes, sights, rivers and mountains all increase and raise the curiosity and interest to keep traveling the world.
