Welcome back Victoria....I enjoyed your blog and glad you had an awesome trip.  Hopefully its the start of a long list of future destinations. Smiley
If you haven't seen Victoria's blog, check it out! http://blogs.bootsnall.com/VictoriaLove/

What you said is true. People have this delusion that they have to be "rich" before they can afford to travel Europe or anywhere for months at a time, when really, the opposite is true. So many are waiting for retirement when hopefully they will still have the health and have enough money saved up to make a nice long road trip. What a gamble....I say do it now. I can always open doors at Wal-mart when I'm 70.  Grin

1) Sad but true, money fuels travel. Even a frugal, hippy backpacker eating nothing but street food, needs a little to get started.

I started off with a dollar fifty.   Grin

This is only recommended for those who don't mind sleeping outside, digging through dumpsters and making a fool out of themself in order to make some change and keep on going Smiley

To me the problem here stems from a lack of distinction between the terms 'travel' and 'vacation'. Hold tight while I get into semantics a bit.
To me vacation is about pampering yourself. It's about bringing a fistful of money with you and not concerning yourself with cost. Just treating yourself for the sake of it.
Travel is a bit different. There's a thin line between traveling to and living in a place. Travel is not necessarily an easy or glamorous thing. It's about the experience, for good and bad.
There's nothing wrong with either way of seeing a place, just a different attitude.
