There is nothing else I love more than to be on my own, responsible for myself, and to be outdoors. Im 20 years old and I plan on joining the army as soon as I am able. (as soon as my lasik surgery is cleared) Because of my inexperience and my plans to join the army soon, i am keeping myself within the United States and to my home state.
I live in Southeast Michigan and I want to make my way up to Paradise, MI in the Upper Peninsula. It is approx 360 miles total. I plan on walking or maybe biking my way. Time is not really an issue. My main concerns are where I would sleep and food situations. I am comfortable sleeping outdoors in a tent, but with my research I havent really found much on where its legal to pitch a tent. As for food, I could buy as I go but I am more than willing to work or find food if i was able.
I have a lot of research and planning to do before I leave but any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated.
