London is probably my favorite city outside of the US (and I've been to a few) but the price tag along with the currency exchange puts a lot of backpackers
off.

The great news is that once you get there, you can get a cheap flight to explore just about anywhere - its safe to say that London is the hub for that side of
the world.  Cool

Patrick Seery, the editor of http://www.inlondonguide.co.uk/ wrote a good article full of tips for places to go without blowing your budget, here's
his new article on the site:  http://www.startbackpacking.com/travel/tips-travel-to-london-cheap/

Cheers!

Once you are done with shelling out all the cash in London, save some and grab a bus to Europe. I only just ran across these people. Being based in London this opens up all new kinds of possibilities for me and may for you

http://www.eurolines.com/

You can get some dirt cheap rides to major cities in Europe and then use the place a jumping off point to go further into the country.

Glad you like London, not been there a whole lot even though I live only 200 miles away.  Cheers Greg it's something to think about it when I am setting off from the UK!  Smiley

Graefyl is correct, I've used Eurolines buses in the past and they work well; much cheaper than the trains now, although I still prefer the trains over a bus any day!
