Destinations / Southeast Asia / Suggestions for a short vacation in Chiang Mai
|
on: November 13, 2009, 01:45:06 AM
|
|
Would be grateful for suggestions for my upcoming trip to Chiang Mai sometime end Nov/early Dec this year. There will be 6 of us - wife, 2 kids (teenagers) plus my in-laws who are elderly and while they are still relatively mobile they are unable to be out the entire day. So I'll be looking for a hotel somewhere in the city area.
Activities that may be of interest: For my kids, something adventurous or unique would appeal to them. For my wife & in-laws, something cultural (say, visiting temples), shopping, crafts maybe, & perhaps short day-trips out of Chiang Mai.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Destinations / Europe / Vatican on Nov 29

I understand that the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel are free on the last Sun. of the month (11/29) Because of this, will the lines be so long because I can not buy tickets ahead of time? We will arrive in Rome at noon on Sat. 11/28. Would we be better to try to see Vatican and Sistine on Sat. afternoon, buying tickets ahead of time? I am so confused about what to do about this. Help please.

Hi there,
I am planning a holiday to Perth in January with my family (parents & sis). We will be arriving in Perth on the 1st of Jan morning. Would like to find out if shops & malls will be closed on New Year day? How about day tours by local tour operators? Will there be any in service on that day? Any recommended tour operators for consideration? Thanks!

Destinations / Southeast Asia / Recommended Bars To Visit In Pattaya Or Jomtiem
|
on: October 27, 2009, 05:18:08 PM

Greetings Fellow Travellers
I am spending xmas & new year in Pattaya and would like to hear any feedback on bars worth a visit in pattaya. I'm not fussed whether they are go go bars but want to stay clear from bars frequented by ladyboys, ideally bars or clubs that have good music and bands on and where you can meet women ( western or thai ) that makes for a good night out.
Thanks And Best Wishes To You All

Destinations / Africa / Travel ideas to Sharm el Sheikh

Planning on going to Cairo and Luxor during the last week of December. Would like to fit in Sharm el Sheikh in between as well. Need some recommendation: 1) Where should I travel to Sharm el Sheikh from - Cairo or Luxor? 2) Since I won't have the luxury of extra travel time, does Egypt Air travel to Sharm el Sheikh from either of those cities? 3) Most recommended places to visit in Cairo, Luxor and Sharm el Sheikh? 4) Which city is closest to Aswan? Suggested mode of travel? Any additional advice will be appreciated.

We are planning a trip next July and want to spend around 10 days in Ladakh, then back to Delhi and Agra. and Rajastan. But we also would like to chill out somewhere else . Should we go to Manali or Dharamsala? I think both are very touristy. Should we bother at all or skip them? We have around 3 weeks for the whole trip. Thanks, all input greatly appreciated.

What is the best way to get from Domodedovo airport to the city centre? Is public transport reliable/easy? What is a normal price for a taxi? I will be in Moscow between 25-29 October, are there any special events in this period?

I am travelling to Ireland at the end of November with a friend, we are both 24yr old Australian women. The plan at the moment is to hire a car in Northern Ireland and then drive to Ireland and around the country for a week. Obviously there is way too much for us to see and do in a week so I was hoping someone who has been there before could recommend a few particular spots? We are going to be staying in hostels it would be good to know any particularly fun and lively ones. Thanks

Arriving in Paris Christmas Eve Day. Our hotel is in the 7th, and our stay runs through New Years' Day. Any tips for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day meals in that area? Do you think it's possible to find get into Notre Dame for Christmas Eve Mass? Is the Eiffel Tower open on Christmas Day? I'm mapping out an itinerary using Rick Steves and others, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks

My husband and I are flying into Boston for a weekend date, and we would like to know what things are a MUST SEE in Boston? I've looked at the part of the Boston page with suggestions, but there are so many! We are open to anything, so I would like to hear what you suggest for a 2 day visit. If you have restaurant suggestions for something romantic and / or a place that is a must-go in Boston for Boston food, I would like your suggestions as well.
Thank you!
